Bereavement

Our Bereavement ministry strives to reach out to parishioners who are mourning the death of a loved one. In providing consolation, support and hope, we make an effort, as representatives of their Catholic community, to share their grief.

  • A Bereavement Hospitality team gathers at the Church on the day of the funeral to greet the family and mourners. These volunteers also attend the funeral liturgy to assist in any way—tissues, water, directions, etc. Volunteers are always welcome.
  • St. Paul offers bereavement sessions, “Help Coping with Loss” twice a year for the recently bereaved. Each session is a seven-week series that contains time for sharing, prayer, along with helpful suggestions and handouts. The sessions conclude with a prayer service in the Church.
  • Each November, St. Paul Church holds a Memorial Mass for parishioners and their families who have suffered the loss of a loved one during the past year. A light refreshment reception follows the Mass. Volunteers are needed to assist with this special service and reception.

If you, or someone you know, have recently lost a loved one, or if you are interested in volunteering for this ministry, please contact the Parish Office at 330.499.2201.
