What does it mean to have a Mass “offered” for someone?
Mass intentions are most commonly offered for the repose of the soul of someone who has died and on the occasion of a special birthday or a special wedding anniversary. Many schedule a Mass intention on the birthday, or anniversary of the death of a loved one. We offer the Mass for a specific intention because we believe in the immense spiritual value of the Holy Sacrifice of Mass.
When you give offerings for Mass intentions, the Parish Office has limitations on accepting several intentions from a single person/family asking to do it on specific dates. We have to oblige the needs of all the parishioners. There is a Mass intention for every Mass (with the exception of Christmas Eve/Day and the Easter Vigil Mass). One of the five weekend Masses must be offered for ‘the parishioners of St. Paul Parish. The listing of each week's Mass Intentions appears in the weekly bulletin.
Mass intentions are scheduled through the parish office and there is a $10 stipend per Mass. Please call (330) 499-2201 or visit the parish office to schedule a Mass intention.
