Welcome to the Spanish Web Page. I am Rocio Hoerr.
I am Senora Rocio Hoerr and this is my 6th year at St. Thomas Aquinas and 1st year at St. Paul. I am originally from Cartagena, Colombia, so Spanish is my native language. I am a graduate of Purdue University and currently pursuing my MS in Education at Walsh University. I follow the mission of the Catholic Schools in my teaching methods: Educate all in an equal manner, teach in accordance to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, teach students to serve and to love others, giving them a sense of community. In my classroom, I want to make sure that everyone learns to the fullest extent of their ability. I ask my students to be helpful, respectful, and loving to one another. Loving God and loving others is emphasized in this class every time we make the Sign of the Cross.

"As a teacher, I have the power to be an instrument and an inspiration to others even though I know I can humiliate and dehumanize a child, but my status before God, Society and Me is to always heal, humanize and be an inspiration to others." - Haim Ginott

OBJECTIVES OF THE CURRICULUM There will be several projects in this course: Spanish in the World (geography) Hello & Goodbye (cognate words) Your Weekly Schedule (time and days) Take a Trip (travel terms and foods) Meet My Family (genealogy) Fiesta! (foods, holidays and traditions)
We will cover ten units of Bravo 1A and view several Spanish videos. We will cook our favorite foods, learn about different Spanish-speaking countries, their people and their culture. We will also cover holidays, music and dance. The overall objective is to provide your child with the basic Spanish they would need for a visit to or to host a visitor of a Spanish-speaking country. This is why we learn other languages! Let's have fun!
